Observational Astronomy and Astronomy in Education

DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCES AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Stavros Avgoloupis is a professor at the School of Primary Education, Aristotle University and teaches Observational Astronomy and Astronomy in Education.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the School of Mathematics and a Doctorate from the School of Physics, both at Aristotle University, Thessaloniki.

His research interests focus mainly on:
a) Variable stars and especially flare stars as well as on RS CVn stars, cooperation with many other simultaneous observations of observatories and satellite telescopes of other countries.
b) Astronomy in Education with focus on the public understanding and the scientific contribution of Astronomy in contemporary environmental issues and new curriculums of our country.
