Venetia Apostolidou is Professor of Modern Greek Literature and Literary Education at the School of Primary Education, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

She was born in Thessaloniki in 1961. She has studied Modern Greek Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and on postgraduate level at the Universities of Vienna and Birmingham.

Her research interests are a) history of the historiography of modern greek literature and history of modern greek criticicm, b) post-war fiction and its relation to history and society, c) reading in school and society and literature teaching.

She is Director of the Centre for Reading and Writing in School and Society.
