Dimitris Ph. Charalambous is a graduate from the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He completed his postgraduate and doctoral studies in the Department of Education at the same university (1984-1990). Between January and June 1991 he had been a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Education at the University of London.

In the past he has worked as a faculty member in the Department of Education in Florina, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; the Department of Education, University of Cyprus; and the Department of Educational and Social Policy at the University of Macedonia. Since April 2009 he is a Professor of Educational Policy at the School of Primary Education, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

His research interests focus on education policy, textbook research and the history of education.
